Business Overview

Tourism Ireland is the all-Ireland tourism body set up to promote Ireland overseas. The company undertakes fully integrated all-island marketing initiatives - a major milestone in the history of tourism in Ireland. Tourism Ireland created a distinctive new brand identity to reflect their all-Ireland focus, which has been incorporated into all promotional and advertising material. Tourism Ireland employs over 140 staff in offices in Dublin, Coleraine and overseas

Project Background

  • Tourism Ireland's e-marketing strategy identified specific key goals, including:-
  • Tourism Ireland website to be the "Site Of Choice" for potential visitors seeking information on or wishing to book holidays in Ireland.
  • A consumer led 'localised' approach, tailor made to the requirements of visitors and mainly on a geographical basis.
  • To achieve these aims Tourism sought a service provider capable of designing and developing a multi-lingual interactive web presence.

Challenges

Biznet understood that this website should be consumer led and should capture the essence of the brand and provide a real experience of brand "Ireland" to the visitor.

The site needed to promote the friendly and genuine personality of the island while maintain a high standard of user-friendliness to the site visitor. Biznet has developed advanced proficiencies in the delivery of front-end designs that meet today's sophisticated and diverse delivery mediums.

With a market presence in over 20 countries, multi-language provision was a key requirement for Tourism Ireland. Biznet put in place a Content Management Solution which supported multi-language content which was centrally stored, but facilitated sharing across the specific market sites.

Tourism Ireland has over 140 staff, located around the world. The provision of a Content Management System which would be used and updated globally, presented logistical challenges, for both Tourism Ireland and Biznet. Given the number of different time-zones across which the site content was to be maintained, Biznet had to ensure that the system was available for use on a 24 X 7 basis, with all changes appearing immediately.

The geographic spread of users meant that there was a high dependency on being able to ensure that the system was as user-friendly and reliable as possible, to ensure that training and support effort was minimised. Biznet prepared extensive training material, and facilitated User Training workshops, which were attended by staff from around the world.

Biznet Solution

Biznet's new media designers designed the user interface and site with a look and feel that reflects the function of Tourism Ireland and disseminates their information, aims and objectives to the widest Internet audience. To keep the site dynamic Biznet's FingerPrint (Dynamic Content Management System) was incorporated.

Features include:

- A complete global site search facility: Users can search by varying criteria or specific quick keyword for the information they wish to find on the Tourism Ireland site.

- Tourism Ireland have an online subscription facility which will allow users of the website the ability to receive a regular email E-zine with new information

- Interactive latest news feed facility is included as well as a quick search facility, which is located in the main navigation menu.

- The site incorporates a multi-lingual welcome and allows the site user to choose the appropriate language version to view the site in. The site has been developed to include versions for 23 different countries

- The Holiday Planner enables the site visitor to create their own hit list of must see's and must stay's from the multiple list of maps, itineraries and quality controlled accommodation listings.
