Adrian Bradley Honoured for Cross Border Achievement
Tuesday 14 March 2006 Business and GovernmentAmong the honourees were business titans Seán Quinn, Billy Hastings, Sir George Quigley, groundbreaking companies Aer Arann, Viridian and Biznet Solutions, sports bodies the Ulster GAA, Dunfield and Rally Ireland, cultural groups Bunscoil an Iúir, the Ballymacarrett Arts and Cultural Society, and the Arts and Disability Forum, entrepreneurial ventures Digital Media Works, Tyrone-Donegal Partnership and the Newry and Dundalk Markets, as well as trade unionist Inez McCormack, TG4, ex-prisoners’ groups Coiste and PREP, the Cross-Border Orchestra and the oyster farmers of Carlingford.
The Top 50 Cross-Border List is modelled on the successful Deloitte Developing Belfast Top 50, hosted last year by the Daily Ireland parent newspaper group, Andersonstown News, and the group’s Aisling Awards, addressed in 2004 by the Rev Jesse Jackson and now in their tenth year.
Daily Irelands Director Connla Lawlor said “We wanted to profile those who are involved in positive work to break down barriers and forge new alliances across the Border.”
Shaun Henry of Special EU Programmes Body Director of Programmes said “We are celebrating the success of those who have helped break down longstanding barriers that exist in our communities and have made a positive contribution to increasing prosperity, reducing social exclusion and promoting the creation of networks between divided communities on a cross-border basis.”
Colm McKenna, Head of Group Marketing, Bank of Ireland Northern Ireland commented “Increasingly good organisations are taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by cross border trade and we are well placed to provide them with practical assistance.”
