With the economies of the world still reeling from the effects of acts of global terrorism, 2002 began in a relatively subdued fashion, with "consolidation" being the keyword. However the rewards for last years labour kept Biznet riding on the crest of a wave. At the Business Eye Golden Eye web awards in February, Biznet grabbed four of the seven awards including the overall award for Best Web Site of the Year. February also saw Biznet Managing Partner Adrian Bradley named within the Top 3 Northern Ireland Business People by the Institute of Directors. First place in the Outstanding Growth Category of the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards and a top three spot in the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 further reinforced and recognised the dramatic success that Biznet have and continue to achieve.

Last year wasn't all about awards, and although "consolidation" was the keyword, in a company that achieved 923% growth in three years consolidation is significant growth in anyone else's language. Contracts with the Department of Employment and Learning, Momentum, The National Trust, BP and the Criminal Justice Sector NI all went from strength to strength and innovative solutions for Evergreen Peat, Bluechip Technologies, The Odyssey Pavilion, among others, all helped to broaden and diversify our client portfolio.

Conscious of not resting on the laurels of previous success Biznet showed its commitment to the development of the skills and careers of its staff with the Achievement of the Investors in People accreditation in March of 2002. New Product Development was also intensified with two HR/Training packages (D-evelop and DLA) and two Management Information Systems (Capital and Performis) hitting the market. Promotional and Sales activity were also intensified both locally and globally at events such as the IFEX in the King's Hall, the Oil Technology Conference in Houston Texas and several trade missions in the US and Far East.

What lies ahead for Biznet 2003?

All the signs are very positive with new contracts already secured on both sides of the border. The recent partnership with Institute of Chartered Accountants and Irish National Events Centre will be a major boost and contracts with several other Public and Private organisations have caused a flurry of activity in the New Year.

The expansion, market development and promotion of the New Product Portfolio will also be a growing focus as customers and users become more discerning on the usage and benefits of Internet technologies. We will also continue to grow and invest in our staff so that we can continue as market leaders in our field continually providing innovative solutions and Making it Happen for our customers.

Good luck everyone in the year ahead!
